OH my goodness. I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since this glorious wedding!
So, the last year has been one of the most eventful, most challenging, difficult, busy, and most growth-filled years we’ve had in marriage and business. We bought our house a little over a year ago. We put an offer on it the day before we started 9 weddings in 6 weeks. (Lost the contract to someone else, they fell through, back to us…house buying drama) All with a newly mobile one year old. And both of us running full time businesses during the week and shooting weddings on the weekends – sometimes double headers. And me only working at home during nap times. And night times. And morning times. And When-daddy-was-home-times. And when I needed to be sleeping times.
I had grand plans of submitting every wedding to an online blog or magazine or something fun to get published. But life was just happening all too fast and all too much. Then perfectionism got in the way. Getting clients their images asap was still at the top of my priority list, but getting weddings on the blog just got messy. Then I waited to start blogging again because I wanted to do it in order. Okay, I’ll leave the rest of all of my pondering here and just say, thank you Lord for grace and the fact that my salvation is not dependent on any work that I can do – ’cause I can’t even keep my blog up the way I’d like. 
So that brings us to today. I have weddings from before Mary Lant’s that need to be blogged. I have weddings after. I have engagement sessions from all over the place that need to get on here. So what do you do when you don’t know what to do? You do what you know to do: blog. Just blog. Stop thinking and just blog. 
Today marks the start of 30+ blogs that are about to go up over the next two months. I loved this wedding and Mary Lant and Ben are about to celebrate their first year of marriage! So they win. Here we are!
This day was gorgeous! We were able to use The Caroline House at Briarwood to get ready and I’m hooked – I could have every bride get ready there each weekend! It was just perfect! My favorite detail about Mary Lant’s whole wedding was the fact that she wore her GRANDMOTHER’S dress! Her mother also wore the dress – three generations in this dress! Talk about a classic?! And it was still so stunning and so perfect for this day – decades later.
My favorite detail about Ben from the wedding day would have to be his reaction to Mary Lant walking down the isle. These two had been dating since high school and had been off and finally back on again in college as they went out of state – to rival schools. (#hailstate) The Lord brought them back together and you could see that all over Ben’s face – years of waiting for Mary Lant and the joy of making her his bride was precious beyond words.
We arrived at the reception just in time to have those perfect The Club views over Birmingham and it was nothing short of breathtaking. I loved every moment of it! Their car shot in front of the sign is still one of my favorites!
The reception was a blast and these two had the most perfect time celebrating as husband and wife. Mary Lant and Ben, I guess a theme in your relationship has been waiting, so it would only be fitting for this to get up later than expected, right?! 😉 Thank you for having us by your side on your wedding day and throughout your journey to becoming husband and wife.
